FINE ARTS

The Cincinnati Art Museum presents Treasures of the Spanish World; Courtesy of the Hispanic Society of America in New York City, this is an amazing collection from the Roman occupation up through early 20th century paintings. Now until January 19, 2020.

This month’s Art After Dark event is on Wednesday, November 27, the night before Thanksgiving. The theme is Girl Power!  It’s a celebration of the current exhibit; Women Breaking Boundaries which is on view through April 12, 2020.

CONCERTS

November 22: Spyro Gyra, one of the most popular jazz fusion bands of the 1980’s, performs their catalog of hits at the Ludlow Garage.

November 22, 23: Houndmouth comes to Southgate House Revival for two shows.  (See their performance at Bonnaroo in 2013.)

November 23: The pure voice a-cappella phenomenon; Straight No Chaser weaves vocal magic in two shows at The Taft.

November 30 & December 1: The CSO performs Tchaikovsky’s Symphony #1 and Schuman Piano Concerto in beautiful Music Hall.

December 4: Folk musician Livingston Taylor continues to tour after 50 years and can be seen at the 20th Century Theater in Oakley.

December 6 & 7: Schumann’s Paradise and the Peri tells the powerful story of a fallen angel’s attempts to return to heaven. Music Hall.

December 13: The amazingly talented Will Kimbrough  (2004 instrumentalist of the year), plays Southgate House Revival.

December 16: Country musician Jeremy Pinnell hales from Elsmere Kentucky. Catch him on the rise at Southgate House Revival.

December 19: 1980’a Alt band 10000 Maniacs sans Natale Merchant performs at Ludlow Garage.

THEATER

November 9 – January 5:  2 Pianos, 4 Hands, a duet of life and laughter will bring a big fat smile to your face!  Playhouse in the Park.

November 22 – December 7: Marjorie Prime. The movie was released in 2017.  See the story told live at the Falcon Theatre.

December 4 – January 4: Prince Ivan learns to see inner beauty in this modern, musical version of The Frog Princess.  Ensemble Theatre.

December 7, 8, 13, 14, 15: Charlie Brown ChristmasThis children’s of all ages favorite happens at The Taft.

HAPPENINGS

November 16 – January 4: Cincinnati Zoo Festival of Lights. Three million LED lights, giant lanterns, Fiona- it must be a zoo fest!

November 23: Light Up The Levee. Santa arrives in a helicopter to see the lighting of a 50 foot tree with 14 million lights. An afterparty features food, beverages and live music.

December 6, 7: Christmas Saengerfest. See award-winning choirs perform at six different locations. Shop holiday markets. Tour churches, hall, and brewery. Beer from Christian Moerlein and food from Taste of Belgium.
